How to remove tan from your face and skin?

In the days of hot summer, tan is one of the biggest problems since your skin is directly exposed to the harmful UV radiation. It may also cause other skin problems like skin cancer which is why it is important to protect your skin. Tan is just a way our body protects itself from the UV rays. However, every individual is cautious when it comes to skin. There are many ways one could remove tan sitting at home. You will just need some basic ingredients and you are good to go.

  • Tomato and sugar scrub:

This is one of the easiest remedies to remove tan. Take a tomato, cut it in the middle and apply sugar on the tomato. Rub the mixture for 5 to 10 minutes. This will help detoxify and brighten your skin since tomato has lycopene which is an antioxidant. In addition to this, sugar is a natural exfoliator and a scrub which removes dead cells and replaces it with new one’s.

  • Aloe Vera gel:

Aloe Vera is available at almost every household easily. It’s not just effective in removing tans but also has medicinal and herbal properties. It is highly effective when applied with a lemon. Apply the mixture on the tanned areas and let it dry. Let the solution dry and then wash it with cold water.

  • Gram flour mask:

This is the best option to remove Sun Tan. Gram flour also known as besan is a readily available ingredient for the mask. You need to add yogurt and aloe vera to make a fine paste. Then apply it on your face and let it dry. After some time, wash your skin thoroughly. Let the paste be a little thicker in consistency.

  • Honey and papaya to remove the tan

Papaya has proved to be beneficial in many ways. It acts as a natural bleach and an exfoliator to remove tan. On the other hand, honey is a natural moisturizer and a soothing agent. All you need to do is cut some pieces of papaya and add honey to it. Mash it or churn it to make a paste and apply for half an hour on the affected area for best results.

  • Taking steam:

Excessive sweating can help to get rid of the tan by opening the pores of your skin. For this you can buy a steamer or a vaporizer. You can also boil water and expose your skin to the vapor coming out of it. Make sure to cover your head with a towel so that you take maximum possible steam. Repeating this for Minimum 20 minutes once a day is advisable.

  • Kojic acid:

Kojic acid is extracted from mushrooms and is used as a skin-lightening cream. It helps in treating spots on your face. You can apply kojic acid with night creams or serums. You can also take a bath with a soap that contains kojic acid. If you have dry skin you should only use it twice a week. It is one of the best ways to remove tan.

  • Niacinamide :

Niacinamide is available in many skin care products. It is a skin – lightening agent that helps correct uneven skin tones and wrinkles. You can apply it twice a day. However, your skin can become highly sensitive after using it so make sure to apply sunscreen whenever you are exposed to sun.

  • Turmeric

This bright yellow spice has traditionally been used in India as a skin lightener. The best part about turmeric is that you can add it in any of the mixtures to get rid of the tan. It is highly beneficial and easily available. Turmeric is also a natural antiseptic which nurtures and nourishes your skin. One tablespoon of this yellow powder can enhance your skin and give a glow on your face. Though it might leave stains on your face so make sure to use a face wash after applying it.

  • Cucumber gel:

Cucumber is used as an ingredient in salads. But it has other benefits to remove tan. It helps cool your skin and acts as a natural oxidant. You need to peel the cucumber, cut small pieces and squeeze it to extract the gel. Apply it in the night and wash it in the morning for best results. It will also give you better results if you add a few drops of rose water. Rose water is a natural cleanser which not only helps in removing tan but also rejuvenates your skin.
